Old vine Chardonnay from a southwest facing vineyard! The grapes are pressed as soon as they reach the winery and ferment with natural yeast in a mix of fiberglass and old barrels. He adds just 3 grams of sulfur per hectoliter at bottling and puts the wine through a gentle filtration.

Crisp and refreshing flavors of mango, pear, and apple will enliven your palate and keep you thirsty. For pairings, we'd suggest a soft ripened triple crème cheese like Délice de Bourgogne or Nancy's Hudson Vally Camembert. If you're feeling a little more hungry, a grilled red snapper or roasted chicken thighs will do just fine. Georges Descombes is heralded as the unofficial fifth member of the iconic four Beaujolais producers (Lapierre, Thevenet, Breton, and Foillard), and owns vines in Brouilly, Regnie, Morgon, and others.

Nose-- Rich exuberant cooked peach, grilled melon, white grapefruit, and creme brulee. This smells very extroverted - lots of ripe tropical fruit but also rich and concentrated baked flavors. This smells gorgeous!

Taste: juicy bright white peach and pineapple juice. Acidity and minerality that give it structure and then there's a deeper texture on the back of the mid palate and a satisfying saltiness. It tastes like this wine spends a bit of time in Oak barrels; not enough to make it creamy or buttery but it has a little bit of a snap and a deep finish from that and the lees contact. It's a great combination and juxtaposition of flavors: bright and racy with depth and creaminess

France, Beaujolais: Chardonnay 2022

Located in Vermont, a tiny hamlet in Villié-Morgon, Georges Descombes is the unofficial fifth member of the iconic "Gang of Four": Marcel Lapierre, Jean Foillard, Jean-Paul Thévenet and Guy Breton. In his teens, Georges worked with his vigneron father in the vines as well as a local bottling company. Hopping around from cellar to cellar gave him a chance to try a large amount of different estates, and the first time he tasted a Lapierre wine, young Georges was blown away by its purity and elegance. Then and there, he decided he would try to make wines like Marcel's.
