Monica is found nearly exclusively in Sardinia, though it’s thought to have Spanish origins as the medieval kingdom of Aragon ruled over the island for centuries. The vineyard source of this Monica is in the Ogliastra region of Sardinia, the most mountainous and remote section of the island. True country wine, what one may have gotten when pulling up to a winery to fill up a rinsed out jug.
